I recommend keeping the permanent residency requirement at 5 years instead of extending it to 10, for the following reasons:
Integration: Five years is sufficient for migrants to learn Dutch, integrate into society, and prove commitment.
Economy & Talent: A longer wait may discourage skilled workers; many EU countries already grant PR after 5 years, so the Netherlands should stay competitive.
Family Stability: Families need security for housing, education, and career planning—delaying PR adds unnecessary uncertainty.
EU Alignment: The current 5-year rule is consistent with EU standards.
For these reasons, the current 5-year period should remain unchanged.
