As an expat I believe this new law will have a significant impact on the workforce in the Netherlands. Many skilled expats may choose to leave for other countries, such as Germany, and this could lead to shortages in certain professions due to a lack of qualified professionals. In my opinion, if the government decides to implement this law, it should only apply to newcomers entering the country after its introduction. Applying it to those who already live and work in the Netherlands could drive away experienced experts, as they would face uncertainty and reduced job security for the next 10 years. If the law were applied only to future arrivals, they would have the opportunity to carefully consider their decision to move to the Netherlands and plan their future with full awareness of the rules. However, it would be unfair to impose this law on expats and entrepreneurs who are already here, especially since many of them have invested in the country based on the existing five-year framework. I sincerely hope the authorities take into account the situation of these individuals and exempt them from the new law.
