Subject: Opposition to the Extension of Naturalization Periods

As a High Skilled Migrant from India, I strongly oppose the proposed extension of the naturalization period to 10 years. I completed my PhD from Germany and recently moved to the Netherlands with my family for work, with the intention of making a long-term commitment here.

This policy change deeply concerns us. Waiting 10 years would create immense uncertainty, especially given the current global challenges of recession, company layoffs, and job instability. Even under the current 5-year rule, if we lose our job due to layoffs, we must leave the country within 3 months. Extending this vulnerability to 10 years would put unimaginable pressure on families with children, forcing us to depend on company sponsorships for an unreasonably long time.

I respectfully request the government to consider exemptions or relaxations for categories such as High Skilled Migrants and EU Blue Card holders. Without such provisions, this change may create panic among current professionals and deter new talent from moving to the Netherlands.
