Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently in my third year of living and working in the Netherlands under a KM visa. I am writing to express my concern about the proposed legislation.

As someone who has made a conscious and voluntary effort to integrate into Dutch society, I feel that this law sends a discouraging message. Highly skilled workers who are willing to contribute their knowledge and efforts to the country are being treated in a similar way to refugees, despite the fact that our situations and intentions are very different.

This approach risks discouraging talent from staying in or coming to the Netherlands. I believe the Netherlands benefits from people who are committed to integration and who wish to contribute to its society and economy. A policy that does not recognize this distinction could ultimately harm the country’s long-term interests.

I sincerely urge you to reconsider this legislation and take into account the efforts and contributions of skilled professionals who are here to build their lives in the Netherlands.

Ik woon en werk momenteel in Nederland met een KM-visum, en dit is mijn derde jaar hier. Met deze brief wil ik mijn zorgen uiten over het voorgestelde wetsvoorstel.

Als iemand die zich bewust en vrijwillig inspant om zich in de Nederlandse samenleving te integreren, ervaar ik dit wetsvoorstel als ontmoedigend. Hoogopgeleide werknemers die hun kennis en inzet graag willen bijdragen aan het land, worden op een vergelijkbare manier behandeld als vluchtelingen, terwijl onze situaties en intenties heel verschillend zijn.

Deze benadering kan talent ontmoedigen om in Nederland te blijven of hierheen te komen. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat Nederland juist profiteert van mensen die zich willen integreren en een bijdrage willen leveren aan de samenleving en economie. Een beleid dat dit onderscheid niet erkent, kan uiteindelijk schadelijk zijn voor de lange termijnbelangen van het land.

Ik verzoek u dringend dit wetsvoorstel te heroverwegen en rekening te houden met de inspanningen en bijdragen van hoogopgeleide professionals die hier hun leven willen opbouwen.
