I believe that 5 years are sufficient to understand the local culture and learn the language sufficiently enough to apply for citizenship. I firmly believe that this period should not be extended to 10 years in order to allow the people who come and contribute to the Ditch society with their expertise, perspective, taxes, and so much more, to gain the level of rights and chance to participate in all aspects of said society. It would be a loss for the Dutch to not retain its skilled or needed migrant friends. Don't forget that not knowing someone or a group can cause fear and that fear causes hate. In most cases, migrants are extra careful to follow the rules and fit in so that they can feel more accepted here. We can only sustain what we have in terms of wealth and quality of life together. I hope more Dutchies would see this topic the same way.
