As a highly educated immigrant, I've built my life in the Netherlands. Over these 3.5 years, I've learned the language, adapted to Dutch culture, and contributed through my work and taxes. This country already feels like home. Extending the naturalization period to ten years would make people like me feel excluded and uncertain about our future, even though we're already fully integrated into society. Dutch citizenship after five years provides stability, a sense of belonging, and motivation to invest even more in this country. Waiting longer creates distance, not integration.
