I arrived in the Netherlands as a highly skilled migrant, bringing my professional expertise to contribute to this country that my family and I now proudly call home. Through my work, I provide high-quality services in my field, while also contributing significantly to the economy through taxes. My children are well integrated into Dutch society, growing up with its values and culture.
A naturalization period of five years provides migrants like myself with a sense of belonging and ownership. It strengthens our motivation to keep contributing to the Dutch economy and society with dedication and enthusiasm.
Extending this period to ten years, however, risks creating feelings of demotivation and exclusion. It delays the opportunity to feel fully part of this great nation, despite our ongoing commitment and contributions.
I respectfully urge you to consider the importance of maintaining the five-year naturalization period, as it reinforces integration, fosters loyalty, and encourages continued growth and contribution to Dutch society.
