As highly skilled migrants, we have brought knowledge, expertise, and added value to the Netherlands. When we chose to move here, we did so based on the benefits and rights available to us, and we built our lives, families, and futures around this framework.

Disregarding these rights now is unfair and inconsistent with the principle of legal certainty. For people like us, who made long-term life plans in good faith, such a sudden change can be considered a violation of fundamental human rights.

We respectfully urge the government to take into account the rights and expectations of those who are already here and not to disadvantage us retroactively. Otherwise, the Netherlands risks undermining the very values of fairness, reliability, and inclusiveness that make it an attractive destination for international talent—values that other countries also compete to uphold.
