Dear Sir/Madam,

I respectfully oppose the idea of extending the naturalization period from five to ten years.

Since I'm a highly skilled immigrant who helps the Dutch economy and society, I think that doubling the waiting period makes people who have already decided to live in the Netherlands for good feel uncertain and stressed out for no reason. A ten-year period could deter talented foreigners from relocating here because it weakens stability and makes integration more difficult rather than easier. It currently offers the required amount of time for integration over a 5-year span as a show of commitment towards Dutch society. Increasing this will embatter the Netherlands as a compelling destination for skilled migrants as well as their families.

I kindly urge you to maintain the 5-year naturalization period.
