As the spouse of a Highly Skilled Migrant, I strongly oppose the proposal to increase the naturalisation requirement from 5 to 10 years.

After moving to the Netherlands, I worked hard for more than a year to find a role in the tech sector and am now proud to contribute to the Dutch workforce and economy.

Expat spouses like me not only support our families but also integrate through work, learning Dutch, and participating in the community. Extending the wait to 10 years would unnecessarily delay our sense of belonging and security, discouraging skilled families from fully committing to life in the Netherlands at a time when the country needs international talent the most.
