**Subject: Objection to Proposed 10-Year Naturalisation Requirement**

Dear [To whom it may concern],

As a Dutch citizen, I strongly oppose the proposal to extend the naturalisation period from 5 to 10 years.

My partner, a non-Dutch citizen, and I are building our life together here. This change would delay his ability to fully participate in our society and put our shared future on hold. It creates unnecessary barriers for people who are already contributing, integrating, and committed to the Netherlands.

Five years is fair and internationally common. Extending it harms families, weakens inclusion, and sends the wrong message to those who want to belong.

Please keep the path to citizenship accessible and just.
