I strongly object this proposal.
Firstly, there should be differentiation made among people holding highly skilled migrant (HSM) Visa and immigrants.
As a HSM holder, we contribute to Dutch economy and pay taxes. Although we receive limited to no benefits.
Period of 5 years is a good amount of time to integrate one-self, learn local culture, converse basic to advance level in Nederland's.
Personally, I learn everyday about Dutch culture, socialize with locals around and having my kid go to Dutch Day care and soon start with Dutch school.
Therefore, 5-year term is a reasonable period between social integration and access to full citizens' rights.
This impact on people who are close enough to complete 5-year tenure to integrate is high!. I am only 2 years away in submitting application for naturalization
Making it longer for naturalization will only have negative impacts driving people away moving to Netherlands and decrease in economy contribution / high taxpayers.
