Istrongly believe the naturalization period should remain 5 years and not be extended to 10. • 10 years is too long – many skilled migrants may choose to return to their home countries rather than wait that long, leading to loss of talent. • 5 years is reasonable – people already wait patiently, and even those frustrated after 2–3 years hold on to complete the 5-year requirement. Doubling it to 10 creates unnecessary discouragement. • Integration happens earlier – after 5 years, people are well integrated in Dutch society through work, taxes, education, and community. Extending the wait does not make them “more Dutch.” • Consistency with other policies – if the 30% ruling or similar expat benefits are not extended to 10 years, then tying naturalisation to 10 years feels unfair and inconsistent. A 5-year path to citizenship strikes the right balance between integration and motivation to stay.
