The proposed changes to the naturalization period should consider the scenario of applying this only to new comers (from say 2026) and it should not be applicable to people who are already here for a number of years. Consider the case where a lot of people may have been here for 4 years 9months when the law gets passed, they are being discriminated against.
Alternatively, you can exclude people who have already having a Permanent residency as on this date of law being passed . For the NL to be progressive, it needs to differentiate betweens Expats and Asylum seekers. Why not consider making such laws only asylum seekers instead of Expats/Knowledge immigrants as the contribution to society differs between the 2 set of people.
