As highly skilled migrants, we contribute actively to Dutch society and economy while making strong efforts to integrate. Extending the naturalisation period from 5 to 10 years should not apply to those who have already spent years in the Netherlands and are only 1–2 years away from eligibility. Applying such changes retroactively would be unfair and demotivating. We respectfully suggest that any new requirement should apply only to future migrants, not to those already close to fulfilling the current conditions.
