We respectfully ask that new naturalization rules not be applied retroactively to families who are already settled in the Netherlands. Many of us, as high-skilled migrants, have lived here for several years, passed the DUO language exams, bought homes, and enrolled our children in Dutch schools. We contribute to Dutch society by paying taxes, following the law, and integrating into our communities.

Currently, naturalization after 10 years is not an option for us since we have only completed about 5 years of residence. Imposing extended requirements on those already integrated risks creating uncertainty for families. For example, if one were to lose their job within the next five years, it could jeopardize their right to remain in the country despite their proven commitment to Dutch society. Such rules should instead be introduced for new arrivals so they can plan their future accordingly
