Objections:
• Labour market risks: Extending the naturalisation period discourages highly skilled migrants,
making the Netherlands less attractive compared to other countries. This will exacerbate
shortages in critical sectors and result in underutilisation of talent already present.
• Discrimination effects: A longer waiting period disproportionately harms the skilled migrants group, a lot of migrants pay taxes and contribute to the society, however extending the term would leave them in position of uncertainties, lot of them already consider netherland their home and raise their kids here, the extension will make Netherland one of stricter countries in Europe and attract less skilled migrants as opposed to many other countries effecting the labor market.
• Difference between migrant groups: Highly skilled migrants often integrate and contribute
quickly, while refugees may require more support. Treating both groups under the same
extended term ignores these differences and risks reducing incentives for retention of skilled
workers.
• Economic and social consequences: Delaying access to naturalisation reduces stability and
security for migrants, discourages long-term settlement, and undermines both social cohesion
and labour market participation.

Proposed Alternatives:

* People who have already spent significant amount of time and are nearing the 5 year term ,contributing to the society and paying active taxes will be the ones effected the worst and this will bring a lot of unstability.
• Introduce tiered naturalisation requirements that consider employment history, tax
contributions, and community participation.
• Recognise demonstrated integration (such as steady employment, education) as valid evidence instead of rigid timelines.

• Implement regular evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact of naturalisation policies on
integration and labour markets, adjusting as needed.
