I believe the waiting period for citizenship should not be extended for people who have already demonstrated their commitment. Many of us arrived legally, have paid taxes consistently, and followed the law without issue. We are already contributing to the economy and society in meaningful ways. After nearly five years of living here, passing language exams, and integrating into daily life, it feels disproportionate to prolong the process. Citizenship is not just a legal status, it's recognition of the responsibilities we have already been carrying. Extending the timeline sends the wrong message: that even when people do everything right, they must wait indefinitely to be fully included. For those who are highly skilled, law-abiding, and invested in building a future here, timely access to citizenship is both fair and beneficial for the country. It strengthens unity, encourages long-term commitment, and ensures that contributions are matched with equal rights.
