I kindly request not to change the current rule of 5 years residency for naturalization to 10 years. Five years is already a long and meaningful period for people to show that they are integrated and committed to life in the Netherlands.

Extending this to 10 years will only make life harder for those who are honest, hardworking, and already contributing fully through work, taxes, and community life. It creates unnecessary delay and pain for people who already feel part of Dutch society and want to belong fully.

Citizenship should be a recognition of integration and effort, not something pushed further away despite people doing their best. Keeping the 5-year rule feels fair, balanced, and encouraging, while moving it to 10 years feels discouraging and demotivating for many.

I sincerely ask that the 5-year requirement is maintained.
