Dear Gemeente,
I hope this message finds you well and helps with your decision making.
As an expat in the Netherlands, I am inclined to express my point of view about the impacts of extending the naturalization process.
First of all I personally, together with my family are very keen to integrate further and further into the Dutch culture. We are very curious about the ins and outs of the country and expose ourselves to information and experiences that help us feel this country more and more like home to us. And as a matter fact, this has happened over the course of last couple of years as we continue to live in the society. As an example, albeit not having the luxury of being able to attend accessible Dutch language courses (which I believe is a right move towards improving naturalization) we are now paying a hefty amount of money to take these courses ourselves and we think this is gonna help us have a better quality of life as part of the Dutch society.
As a professional with 10+ years of expertise, out of all countries in the whole world, I have chosen this country as my potential second home country which can hopefully turn into my primary home where I would raise my children in as they grow here and indulge in the culture.
With all this said, I see the extension of naturalization process to have more drawbacks than benefits and attracting less and less international professionals to the country; making it less of an international hub that people can thrive in.
I genuinely hope this data point helps out with the decision making and the country moves to the right direction as it has throughout the history.
