I significantly discourage the extension of naturalisation to 10 years as it would definitely impact mainly reduction in attracting great talents like HSM visa holders, who contribute to a larger extent towards the economy/taxes and innovation. The current 5-year pathway already reflects a balanced integration period, aligning with international norms and offering a fair timeline for committed residents to fully participate in Dutch society. Doubling this requirement sends a strong signal of exclusion, undermining the Netherlands' reputation as an open and competitive destination for global talent. Such a policy change could lead to a talent drain, harming sectors like tech, engineering, and healthcare that depend on skilled internationals. Rather than promoting integration, this measure risks alienating long-term contributors and weakening the social and economic fabric of the nation.
