U kunt op de gehele regeling en memorie van toelichting reageren.I understand why this legislation needs to be brought in but I genuinely feel this will discourage high skilled migrants from moving to the Netherlands. Anti immigrant atmosphere & extreme political views combined with recent changes to perks like 30% ruling & more have already discouraged expats moving to the Netherlands. We have to understand that expats especially those on HSM come here through invitation from companies and contribute a lot to the economy through taxation and economic activity. There is also concern for people who are already here for a few years and had planned their life based on the fact that they can become dutch nationals in 5 years. It would be extremely unfair for them to now suddenly know that the time has been changed to 10 years. If the Netherlands want to keep attracting good talent in the field of science and technology especially with AI race started already, I think this measure will not help. I also understand the need to enforce stricter integration into the dutch culture before giving nationality to expats but there should be ways around it to achieve that outcome. Currently for example, I already started learning dutch and trying to integrate because I know I have to apply for the dutch nationality after a few years but if you make it 10 years, it can also means a lot of expats will wait 7-8 years before they finally start integrating and many of them will leave way before that for better alternative opportunities. I think it would be good if government can differentiate between different types of migrant workers and hence apply relevant policies for each one depending on how you want to shape the country in the next 10-20 years.
