Dear Members of Parliament,

I have been a legal resident in the Netherlands for nearly 5 years, and by next September I will have met all the current requirements for naturalization. During my time here, I have integrated into Dutch society — I have learned the language, embraced the culture, and actively participated in the community. I have also successfully completed the necessary civic integration process.
The proposed change would unfairly delay my ability to apply for Dutch citizenship, despite my clear commitment to this country. Such a policy shift feels deeply discouraging to those of us who have worked hard to build a life here and who are ready to take the final step in becoming fully integrated members of Dutch society.
I respectfully urge you to reconsider or oppose this proposal. Policy changes of this kind should not be applied retroactively to residents who have already spent years preparing under the current system.

Thank you for your attention, and for your continued efforts to support a fair and inclusive society.

Kind regards,
Mahie
