I am against the extension of naturalization periods. When you know that you can obtain a passport within a reasonable time, you feel that the law welcomes you and encourages you to prepare yourself more quickly to be part of society and to respect its rules. A shorter period motivates migrants to integrate faster and with more dedication. On the other hand, if the process becomes longer, it creates discouragement, insecurity, and a sense of exclusion instead of stimulating integration.
