Vraag1
U kunt op de gehele regeling en memorie van toelichting reageren.
We have already contributed to the dutch economy in the last 4 years by paying high tuition fees to the medical school ( 32000 euro per year while after normalisation it will be 2000 euro per year ) . we are feeling treated already unequally with other law abiding citizens.
1. Inequality and discouragement :
The extension to 10 years undermines integration and discourages the involvement of people who have contributed to Dutch society for years.
2. International comparison :
The current 5-year period is in line with European standards. Ten years is disproportionate and places the Netherlands in an exceptionally strict position.
3. Legal certainty and trust:
Many people based their choice to come to the Netherlands and build their lives here on existing legislation, namely naturalization after 5 years. It would be legally and morally wrong to change the rules retroactively for this group.
Therefore, I emphatically request that any change only apply to new migrants who come to the Netherlands after the law comes into effect. For those already living in the Netherlands, the current 5-year period should remain in effect.
4. Social cohesion
People who are already integrated here and have started families will be disproportionately affected by an extension that would apply retroactively.
Request
I request the government:
• To maintain the 5-year term;
• Or, if the extension is nevertheless granted, to explicitly state that the new 10-year term will not apply to people who were already legally resident in the Netherlands before the law came into effect.
