I moved to the Netherlands last year to join my husband. Since then, I have started working in a part-time job and I am also learning Dutch to integrate better. We have settled here with a home and are trying to build our future in this country.

Hearing about the proposal to extend the residency requirement from 5 years to 10 years is disheartening. For people like us who are sincerely working to adapt and contribute, 5 years feels like a reasonable and supportive timeframe. Extending it to 10 years makes the path to stability and future planning much harder.
