I moved to the Netherlands for my Master’s three months ago, mainly because the citizenship timeline seemed balanced. I left a good job to relocate here. As a highly skilled worker in a shortage occupation, this sudden naturalisation change feels unfair. It affects my motivation to stay, as other EU countries value my skills and offer citizenship in a shorter time.
