Although it's a fair point to ensure people are integrating deeply into Dutch society, it is also important to be fair in the promises a country makes to people who leave their job, family, and life behind to rebuild everything, with a 5-year time requirement for citizenship as the understanding. This is an injustice to break these promises and make abrupt changes. It is difficult to explain the pain the expats (legits) go through, while the focus is always on refugees/asylum seekers. They might have plans to keep going to their old parents and live around them for a couple of years or so (which is risky without the citizenship). I strongly feel/ suggest to have this new change be made only for the new people and not for the people already living here.
