5 years requirement for naturalization is a great amount of time for a person to adapt to a new culture, create a new life, make new friends and get used to the environment. Thinking the requirement for naturalization is also 5 years in neighboring countries as Belgium, Germany, France and Luxembourg, making it 10 years is only going to make life even harder for people who were enthusiastic about getting the citizenship. People leave their lives behind and begin a new page when they move to the Netherlands. Thinking most of the expats have high education levels and many years of experience in their fields and they usually provide great workforce for many big companies like ASML, Daf, VDL, Booking etc. bringing this new rule will only affect them in a negative way and even cause loss of some of the valuable work force and also reduce the number of possible expats in the future. Thinking the growth of country via growth of companies, when the growth goals of big companies like ASML is taken into account, it can be easily seen that they need a big workforce which can not be supplied only by Dutch people. In this case expats will be more likely to choose Germany or Belgium which citizenship is easier to get and life is cheaper to sustain. Also for people who took this 5 years rule into account while deciding on changing their full life, this change in the rule would be a great disappointment and a big stone on the way. Especially for people who have only 1-2 years left for their application who already passed all their tests, this will only be a way of saying your efforts are not worthy for the citizenship which will only be a demotivating factor.
