Vraag1
Wat vindt u van de concept regelgeving?
(1) No scientific study has ever shown that e-cigarette 'flavor' bans reduce teen vaping
(2) There is strong evidence from the US National Youth Tobacco Survey and Monitoring the Future survey that US teen daily vaping dropped by 1/3rd between 2019 and March 2020, suggesting teen use was a passing fad rather than an epidemic
(3) There is some evidence, from the USA, that such bans increase teen and young adult smoking and THC vaping
(4) There is strong evidence from the US states of San Francisco, Rhode Island and Washington, and from the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, that such bans increase cigarette sales significantly (largely explained by adult vapers relapsing to smoking)
(5) There is strong evidence that 'flavored' e-cigarettes are 2.3 times more effective for smoking than tobacco flavor, suggesting such bans will discourage smoking cessation; since smoking is lethal, and e-cigarettes are safer than smoking, none of these probable outcomes are ideal for public health
Finally: Forcing adult vapers to vape tobacco flavor is like forcing recovering alcoholics to drink whiskey-flavored soft drinks.
