Wat vindt u van de concept regelgeving?
Tobacco harm reduction products have always meant to be for adult consumption. The possibility of choice in vaping is essential: a wide range of almost personalized devices and flavored eliquids cannot be waived if you don’t want to decrease the success potential of this unique alternative to smoking. It doesn’t make sense to allow flavors in nicotine gums and nicotine aerosols and banning them in eliquids: why should a person who has given up smoking or is in the process of doing so be forced to remember the taste that that person’s trying to leave behind? On the other hand, banning will never be a good option: the more you prohibit, the more attractive it becomes to the population. Bans only enrich existing and future black markets and disturb those consumers who wish to live within the bounds of the law. Don’t make it more complicated for those who want to give up smoking, cause skilled vapers are capable of making their own flavored eliquids, but amateur vapers could end up using non water-soluble ingredients and cases like EVALI would become frequent. And, of course, dealing with an “ilegal” market brings many more problems to regulators than dedicating time to increase the measures to avoid the use of these products by children: learning from history should be a must when people’s lives are at risk.
