This bill falls extremely short of what millions of Duch people had been waiting for from the government. How is it that Netherlands, a beautiful country that stands for Justice, Equality, Freedom and Harmony still adopts such a negative stance on Dual nationality?. Why is the Netherlands one of the very few advanced economies still adopting this negative stance?

A person never knows where life takes them. I have now lived more years in the United Kingdom than I had in the Netherlands. My lifestyle, future plans and situation required me to take up British nationality. I really appreciated the United Kingdoms stance on dual nationality, but why couldn't the Netherlands? Norway had a few years back allowed dual nationality and an option for those who lost it to regain it.

Even though I no longer have valid Dutch papers, I am still by heart loyal to the Netherlands. In addition, I had moved to the United Kingdom when I was 14, my younger brother arrived a the age of 5. He lost all connections to the Netherlands including the language. yet he could keep Dutch Nationality if he wanted to as he arrived more than 5 years before the age of 18. Unfortunately for me, I had arrived just 4 years before the age of 18. If only our parents brought us to the UK when I was 13 instead of 14, I could've kept my Dutch nationality..... is this legislation fair?

I highly urge the Dutch government to take a different on dual nationality and bring it more in line with the modern world. Whether I have a Dutch Passport or not, I will always be Dutch by heart.
