Welke aandachtspunten wilt u meegeven met betrekking tot de nadere doordenking en uitwerking van deze regeling?
Dit is een reactie namens een aantal opleidingsmanagers van internationale opleidingen van de Hogeschool van Amsterdam:
It is very unclear in the document what the “meerwaardecriterium” actually is for justifying English programmes.
A distinction needs to be made between an International curriculum which is taught in English compared with a programme taught in English.
Having to justify whether our International English language programmes in the HvA should continue in English is not necessary for the following 5 major reasons:
1. More than 50% of the classroom i.e. students are non-Dutch so what would be the sense of teaching in Dutch?
2. Our English language programmes have already been accredited by the NVAO which included justifying why the progamme is in English – who better to decide this?
3. Holland is starting to be seen as an educational powerhouse in English – winning over students who normally chose to study in the UK or the US – why stop that trend?.
4. Dutch industries have a global outlook and require internationally focused employees speaking multiple languages (Dutch employees with these skills) – we provide these locally.
5. Internationalisation @home with Dutch students works far better in a faculty with some international English taught programmes – mixing international students with Dutch ones.
