General closing question

10. Are there any other points that you believe should be included in the new policy document?

In relation to digitalization and ed-tech, War Child is working on a global innovative game with the aim for youth to transcend disinformation. Children in particular are vulnerable to being influenced by and further spreading disinformation, while experiencing the adverse consequences on their mental health and self-protective capacity. Disinformation - which encompasses the coordinated spread of misleading information with the intention to manipulate, deceive and harm groups of people - is an increasingly powerful weapon that is used to further political or economic interests, undermine democracy, polarize societies and fuel conflict. The Ukraine crisis shows the importance of young people recognizing disinformation and being able to actively prevent the spread thereof and create constructive, objective and unifying narratives that offer an alternative to disinformation. War Child has developed unique digital literacy education for children that applies the principle of active inoculation to what children like to do: playing games. The intervention has been piloted with promising results and is ready to be rolled out on a larger scale. We would be delighted to explain this idea further.

Furthermore, War Child is flipping its governance in order to become more localized. One hurdle in this transformation are donor requirements, and not being able to access funding from MFA and other important donors anymore because of eligibility criteria. To advance on localization as quickly as possible, we hope to have a continued conversation with MFA.
