Vraag1

1. If you look at the 3 regions that we focus on (MENA, Horn of Africa, Sahel) – can you mention specific trends per region which are relevant for the strategy. Are there, for example, specific sectors where there is much to be gained? Or specific skills that young people lack in a certain region or sector?
When young people start their own projects/business they often feel a lack of empowerment; they miss a relevant network (which can link them to potential investors for example) but also the right platform to communicate on. It is really important that their story is ''out there''.

2. Do you have examples of successful "scaled up" initiatives / programs in the field of education and work to increase youth employment, and if so, which ones? Or do you know of certain successful initiatives that are worth scaling up in the 3 regions mentioned?
One Young World Ambassador Kiko Muuo (Kenya) cofounded Angaza Elimu - a platform that combines a comprehensive e-learning platform with a simple classroom setup to ease the administrative burden on teachers and free them to spend more time teaching substantive material. Schools utilising Angaza Elimu receive a computer with its preinstalled e-learning software and a projector to allow the teacher to share material with the classroom. Multimedia content is used to reinforce the learning process and make it fun, with the solution strengthening, rather than replacing, the student-teacher relationship. He already transformed education across Kenya with this but also aims to address the entire continent of Africa. Another great One Young World example is QueenB - founded by Yasmin Dunksy (Israel). QueenB matches future demands with current education, especially aiming towards young women. With QueenB Yasmin decided to address girls in middle school, at the critical point before choosing their major in high school. She offers the girls in QueenB Java and App development lessons, once a week throughout the whole year. The lessons were written by Yasmin and her team, specifically to fit generation Z girls, emphasizing the creative parts of coding and to make them see how relevant it is to their lives.

3. Do you have specific ideas or additions about how we can make young people part of this policy? How do we ensure that they participate in the implementation of this strategy?

It is important that young people are not only being consulted, but also being tasked with the responsibility to implement it and to write along with strategies that will affect them and their peers. This gives them the right amount of involvement and increases their sense of taken seriously.
