Wat is uw reactie op het voornemen om de standaardverpakking voor sigaretten en shag in te voeren teneinde een rookvrije generatie te realiseren?
We oppose the proposed plain packaging laws as plain packaging has proven to be ineffective in reducing smoking rates, sets a terrible precedent for intellectual property rights in international commerce, and supports the illicit tobacco market by reducing the ability for consumers to differentiate between different brands and between branded and unbranded products. As plain packaging laws have failed to reduce smoking while creating a range of negative consequences in countries which have experimented with them, we instead submit that proven best practice tobacco policy strategies should be implemented based on international experience in order to combat the scourge of smoking. These include harm reduction strategies that facilitate the ability of smokers who can't or won't quit to access proven safer nicotine delivery products such as vapes or e-cigarettes.
